Trophies or Prizes for the following categories:

Athene Cup – overall winner on handicap

Blackbird Sea Trophy – first boat over the water

The Race: This event is open to all Punt Owners and all punts. It is a river handicap race

run by the Norfolk Punt Club starting from Thurne Mouth and usually racing

somewhere upstream of Thurne Mill, down to Upton dyke, up to St Benets

and back to Ant Mouth.

The start will be 1pm at Thurne Mouth.

Any of these conditions may change slightly without prior notification.

Entry Conditions:

Entries by Thursday 13th October please. There will be a small entry fee of

£10 to cover expenses, which can be paid on the day. Four boats is the

minimum entry.

Due to the location of the start you must provide a contact telephone number

in case of cancellation either on the day if adverse weather, or before the day

in the case of too few entries. Effort will be made to contact you within

reason, but you must also make sure you are contactable (answer phone

messages that are left will constitute reasonable effort made).

Towing to the start:

There will be a tow from Barton by river to Thurne Mouth. Leaving Barton at

9:00am prompt. Please indicate on your entry form if you need a tow. Hickling

boats will have their own tow. Alternatively, you can make your way to Thurne

Mouth independently. It will also be possible to launch and recover at Oby

Dyke for a small donation (£10). Please indicate on the entry form.

If your arrangements change please contact Val and Neville as soon as

possible.

Briefing: At the moorings at Thurne Mouth at 12:00pm. If everyone is there we would

hope to start the race at 12.30 promptly, 12.45 at the latest, so please allow

plenty of time to get there. We are trying to leave enough time for folk to get

home in daylight.

Conditions: All boats shall be in possession of a current measurement certificate.

A minimum of £2,000,000 Third Party Insurance must be held.

All entries are made at the owner’s risk. The responsibility between the owner,

the Broads Authority and BESL for the moorings at Thurne Mouth is still not

sorted. The owner of the land is happy for us to use the bank but at

everyone's individual responsibility. Please be clear you will be using the

bank (which is in good condition) at your own individual risk.

Any exceptions to the above conditions or class rules must be submitted in

writing with the entry form for consideration.

Teas: Prize giving will follow tea and cakes.
